Street drawings, Rome/Paris 1978
While doing a semester abroad back in college, I kept a sketchbook of my wanderings. The drawing above is one of my favorites. In Paris, I happened upon this scene along the Seine–a couple of old guys napping at the bottom of the stairs going down to the water. That spring the high water had flooded over the walkway at river level. One of the guy's crutches was leaning up next to him. I believe the media was a cheap black Bic pen, and drawn into a dog-eared 20 x 16" spiral-bound sketchbook.
