Southwest Journal highlights Snow People project

Mira Klein wrote a nice article about my snow people series in a recent issue of Southwest Journal, a local newspaper that covers my lovely little bubble in Minneapolis. As I read my own quotes, it’s clear I’m still trying to get my head around what these paintings are about. When a writer interviews me looking for quotes, I have to contend with the myriad motivations I have about what subjects to pursue. “These are about this, but not only about that…I want to do this, then this other thing becomes fascinating…”
I recall an old art teacher talking about “clarity of intent.” It’s a fine notion to be clear about what you’re aiming for, but that can also get in the way of discovering something new in the process. Usually, the joy lies somewhere in between.
I’d love to hear any feedback you have to offer.
